CUSTOM FAMILY TRIPS

Beach weeks, big birthdays, and trips with the whole family

All-inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean, Hawaii, multi-generational trips and milestone celebrations, built around your budget, your calendar and how your family likes to travel.

WHAT I HANDLE

The parts that usually eat your evenings

  • Matching resorts to your family: kids’ club ages, pools, beach quality and how spread out the property is
  • Room setups that actually fit, like connecting rooms, suites and occupancy rules for bigger families
  • Direct flights from Vancouver where possible, plus transfers both ways
  • Excursions and day trips worth leaving the resort for
  • Coordinating several households: rooms, flights and who pays what
  • Birthday, anniversary and celebration touches, arranged ahead
  • Travel insurance that fits the trip, with the fine print explained
  • Hotel perks through Virtuoso when they’re offered
PLANNING TIMELINE

What happens, and when

Every trip is different, but this is the usual rhythm. I keep track of the deadlines and remind you before anything is due.

  1. 6–12 months out

For school breaks, the winter holidays and group trips, book early for the best rooms and flights.

  2. 3–6 months out

Often enough time for off-peak beach trips, especially with flexible dates.

  3. A few weeks out

Excursions, celebration extras, transfers and your final documents.

  4. While you’re away

One person to message if anything needs sorting.

GOOD TO KNOW

A few things I tell every family

Room limits catch big families out

Many standard resort rooms max out at four people, babies included. Families of five or more usually need a suite, connecting rooms or a specific room type, and I look for that from the start.

Mexico’s Pacific coast is closer than you think

Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos are shorter direct flights from Vancouver than the Caribbean. That’s a real difference with little kids.

In Hawaii, pick the island first

Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island each feel very different. Choosing the right island shapes the trip more than choosing the resort.

QUESTIONS

Common questions

See all FAQs

How far ahead should I book?

For Disney, Universal and popular cruises, 9–12 months ahead gives the best choice of hotels, cabins and dining times. Alaska summer sailings and school-break trips often book up even earlier. I can still find good options closer to your dates, so reach out and I’ll tell you what’s realistic.

Do I need a deposit to get started?

No. The first conversation is always free with no obligation. A deposit is only needed when you’re ready to book a specific trip, and I’ll walk you through exactly what’s due and when before anything is charged.

Are prices in Canadian or U.S. dollars?

It depends on the supplier. Some offer Canadian-dollar pricing and some only quote in U.S. dollars. I always tell you which currency a price is in before you book, so there are no surprises on your credit card statement.

Should I buy travel insurance?

For most family trips, especially cruises and anything outside Canada, I recommend it. Your provincial health plan covers very little once you leave the country. Insurance can also cover cancellations and interruptions. I’ll walk you through options that fit your trip and any coverage you already have through work or a credit card.

What happens if we need to cancel?

Every supplier has its own rules. Some refund in full up to a certain date, and some keep the deposit. I explain the cancellation terms before you book and remind you before any penalty dates, so you’re never caught off guard.
